HATTA ALI WAS CHOSEN FOR CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT PERIOD 2017-2020

Jakarta-PR: Thursday, February 14th 2017 The Supreme Court held plenary session with the special agenda to elect Chief of the Supreme Court. The election based on Prof. Dr. H. M. Hatta Ali., SH., MH’s term of office will be ended in March 1st 2017. “To avoid the emptiness of Chief Justice, we would prepare it well”. Said Hatta Ali.

Based on Decision of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Number 12/KMA/SK/1/2017 concerning code of conduct of Chief of the Supreme Court election, then chief justice will be chosen by and from honorable justice. The election will be legal if it attended by approximately 2/3 from number of honorable justice.

The ways to elect are, every honorable justice can choose and be chosen to be chief justice of Supreme Court. Every honorable justice can choose only one candidate of chief justice. The honorable justice who gets the majority vote is the chosen chief justice.

And if the result of vote counting of one candidate already got 50% + 1, that candidate will surely be appointed as chief justice of the Supreme Court. But if the candidate would not agree to be appointed as chief justice, then the candidate in second and third position will be asked their allowance to be nominated as chief justice.

If in the first rotation did not fulfilled vote 50% + 1, the election will be continued to the second rotation and so on, but if in the third rotation the result of vote counting still in the same result, organizer will held the forth rotation in 1 X 24 hour.

Today, election held for one rotation. The honorable justice chosen are:

1. Prof Dr. Hatta Ali, SH., MH got 39 vote
2. Dr. Andi Samsan Nganro, SH., MH with 7 vote
3. Suhadi, SH., MH 1 vote
4. Mukti Arto, SH., MH 1 vote.

In his speech, Hatta Ali thanks to everyone who support and believe him to be chief justice for period 2017-2022. “I surely will continue the programs that had run in realizing the Supreme Court mission which is to realize the noble judicial” (dok.ifah/foto.devi/Azh/RS)
