CHIEF JUSTICE: “INDONESIAN WOMEN JUDGES HAVE A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN NATIONAL LEGAL DEVELOPMENT”
Jakarta-Public Relation: Saturday, January 20, 2018 the participants of Women Judges Meeting from Four Jurisdiction in all over Indonesia attending workshop on Law Enforcement Against Women Cases Against the Law in Mercure Hotel, Ancol, Jakarta. This seminar presenting some Indonesian great women as speaker, they are Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Marine Affairs and fisheries Susi Pujiastuti, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. M. Hatta Ali., SH., MH, in his remarks in the opening said that Indonesia women judges have a significant role in national legal development. According to Hatta, until now approximately 1.900 women judges exist or 27% from whole judges, and almost from women judges has been gained high position such as leader in court with high quality leader that can compete with men judges. Definitely they have a chance to become honorable judge, as well as vice chief justice of supreme Court was ever been positioned by woman judge.
Besides, Hatta adds that issuing the Decree of Supreme Court of Republic of Indoensia on The Guide for Law Enforcement Against Women Cases Against the Law which become the one of the topic discussed in the seminar, also connected with the role of Indonesia women judges that presented in ASEAN Women Judges Meeting in Bangkok on 24-25 June 2016.
This seminar expected to give knowledge and to share experiences that can be applied by Indonesia women judges in applying their daily task as judge. “I hope all participant of this meeting can get the beneficiary of this workshop from the very great speaker, to be applied in doing the task as judge” Hopes Hatta.
