THE HON. CHIEF JUSTICE ATTENDED THE OPENING OF 13th ASEAN LAW ASSOCIATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN SINGAPORE

Singapore – Public Relation: The Hon. Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. M. Hatta Ali, SH., MH. Attended the opening of 13th ASEAN Law Association (ALA) General Assembly in Rafles City Convention Centre, Singapore (26/7). This occasion was the ALA annual meeting which was the peak event of series meeting of work group under ALA. The ALA General Assembly held in simultaneously with ASEAN Law Conference on The Power of One, Unlocking the Opportunities in ASEAN through Law. ALA conference attended by more than 100 participants from all ASEAN Region.

In that event The Hon. Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia led the delegations from Indonesia which consisted of kind of law profession, such as judges, lawyers, and another government representative. The opening of the General Assembly held in panel forum attended by Chief Justice of Singapore who also served as President of ALA Singapore Sundareh Menon, President of ALA Avelino V Cruz from Philippines, General Secretary ASEAN Dato Lim Jock Hoi. In addition, keynote speaker delivered by Minister for Finance Singapore Mr Heng Swee Keat on The Role of Law in Economic Integration and Development.

Furthermore, ASEAN Law Conference will be held until Saturday July, 28th 2018 presenting the kind of speaker from all region and the kind of comprehensive discussion regarding ASEAN legal integration initiatives on The Power of One, ALA tried to realize the closer cooperation and to harmonize faster in legal field particularly in legal that support the trade and investment. Beside kind of workshop in legal field that will be held, in the occasion also will be formed ASEAN Law Institute as Think Tank in legal field.

Established in 1970, ALA is non government organization from all law profession in all ASEAN Region. ALA become home for all the different branches of the law profession such as judges, law teachers, law practitioners and government lawyers. (Public Relation/H.Y.Witanto/RS/Azh)
